چکیده

RECENT reports'-6 have emphasized the importance of recognition and satisfactory surgical treatment of patients suffering from hypertension due to unilateral renal artery stenosis caused by embolism, thrombosis, atherosclerotic plaques, or aneurysms. Most cases have been in adults and the diagnosis of the obstruction was made by aortography. The purpose of this paper is to draw attention to the occurrence of hypertension in children as a result of stenosis of the orifices of both renal arteries by a localized arteritis of the abdominal aorta. As in adults, aortography would enable the recognition of such lesions and lead to possible surgical cure.

Numerical Investigation of Angulation Effects in Stenosed Renal Arteries

Background: Numerical study of angulation effects of renal arteries on blood flow has been of great interest for many researchers. Objective: This paper aims at numerically determining the angulation effects of stenosed renal arteries on blood flow velocity and renal mass flow.Method: An anatomically realistic model of abdominal aorta and renal arteries is reconstructed from CT-scan images and u...

Acquired Infrarenal Abdominal Aortic Coarctation: Treatment with Percutaneous Self Expandable Stent

Abdominal aortic coarctation is an extremely rare vascular pathology. Its etiology can be congenital or acquired. Here we present a case of acquired infrarenal abdominal coarctation in a 66-year-old woman who complained of low back and legs pain. She had no signs of resting lower limb ischemia, with diminished distal pulses and normal blood pressure in upper and lower extremities. Magnetic reso...

Effects of two forms of hypertension on atherosclerosis in the hyperlipidemic baboon.

We examined the relationship of hypertension and plasma renin activity to atherogenesis in 48 moderately hyperlipidemic (total serum cholesterol was about 200 mg/dl) baboons (Papio sp.). We used renal artery stenosis (two-kidney, one clip model) to produce hypertension associated with elevated plasma renin activity, and used cellophane wrapping of both kidneys (bilateral perinephritis model) to...
